Desserts & Desserts began in 2001 when our parents brought together two things that had long been part of our family: entrepreneurship and food.
Our father had been an entrepreneur in Colombia, where he owned a poultry business. Entrepreneurship was already part of the family long before Desserts & Desserts existed. His mother, our grandmother, also made desserts and cakes in Colombia.
Our mother brought another part of the story. She had always loved cooking and was the person preparing food and desserts for family gatherings and special occasions.
When our family came to the United States under difficult circumstances, our parents had to begin again. Our father originally imagined returning to the kind of business he knew in Colombia. But Miami presented a different opportunity.
An Opportunity Takes Shape
One idea became
a family business.
After arriving in Miami, our father noticed how much people enjoyed desserts. Combined with our mother's experience in the kitchen, an idea began to take shape.
There was no large production facility, established distribution network, or polished roadmap in the beginning. Our parents made the products, learned what their customers wanted, solved problems as they came, and did whatever was necessary to keep moving forward.
Like many family businesses, everyone wore more than one hat. The objective was simple: make a dessert people genuinely enjoyed, take care of the customer, and build something that could last.

Then & Now
The scale changed.
The foundation didn't.
What began as a small family operation grew into a company capable of serving restaurants, retailers and other businesses while offering a broader selection of desserts.
The operation became larger and the relationships became broader. But the principles remained simple: care about the dessert leaving our kitchen, maintain the quality our customers expect, and treat the businesses we serve as long-term partners.

Traditional Latin desserts became the foundation of Desserts & Desserts, with Tres Leches becoming one of the products most closely associated with our name.
Our recipes were shaped by our family's Colombian roots and our mother's experience in the kitchen. Over the years, they have been refined for the customers and businesses we serve while preserving the character that made people come back in the first place.

Desserts & Desserts remains family-owned today. And although much has changed since 2001, we still care deeply about the same thing our parents cared about at the beginning: making something people are happy to serve—and happy to eat.
